» Striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni is on trial at relegation threatened Coventry City

»Coventry are willing to offer the striker a contract till the end of the season Former Super Eagles forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni is on trial at Coventry City, who play in League One, the third tier of the English football league system.

According to Goal.com, the player’s agent has confirmed the 34-year-old forward is training at the Midlands club. The 34-year-old was formerly on the books of Turkish Super League outfit , Kayserispor where he failed to find the back of the net in 12 appearances.

Aiyegbeni has an impressive scoring record with Portsmouth, Middlesbrough , Everton, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers. Coventry who rock the base in League would be counting of the former Super Eagles forward to avoid the drop.

Manager Russell Slade is understood to have invited the former Everton striker to the club. There, he is set to undergo a fitness valuation with a view to offering him a short-term deal until the end of the season.
